said that he could weep at the thought of the Left, in the shape of the Gazette
and Derek Simpson, running his beloved
He need not
have worried; Simpson’s conversion from champion of the left to Ken Jackson is
complete. Gone is the man who only had eyes for what the Membership wanted,
gone is his cast iron guarantee on the Election of Officials, gone is any form
of radicalism in the Unions policies, we support nuclear power, the third
runway at Heathrow, we support new Labour in the same way that we vilified Ken
Jackson for doing, the list of issues on which we have been betrayed is almost
endless and the attacks on lay democracy have if anything increased as Simpson
clings to power, with increasing desperation.
He cries
foul when Jerry Hicks says that he is holding office illegally, but claims that
it was right for him to accuse Ken Jackson of the same. Derek Simpson was quite
happy to launch that attack on Jackson but we should all remember, If we choose to live by the sword then we will surely die by
it, maybe that particular irony is lost on a man who thinks there should be one
rule for him and one for everyone else.
The Election
process has produced some quite astonishing results so far, despite all of the
Chicanery of Simpson and his supporters, (including unwitting dupes like Neil Sheenan and the North West Gazette, more about them later.
Ever since this process started, Jerry Hicks
has always been the only credible alternative to Simpson and his right wing
views.
Our great
paper of record, the Times, denounces Simpson and says that this Election is a
straight fight between the two right wing candidates Kevin Coyne and Derek
Simpson, there is a surprising lack of political understanding amongst the
Times journalists who wrote this story as they fail to understand that the
Membership, under attack from all sides, have nothing left to lose, Coyne
offers no alternative to Simpson, the only thing these two men disagree about
is whose arse should be in the seat.
Now more
about the North West Gazette, or a more honest description would be the
unwitting pawns in Simpson’s final game of Chess. Let me explain, many many times the North West would complain to me when I was
Chair of the National Gazette, about the activities of the `Trots` , yet the North West helped Simpson destroy the
Gazette as a credible organisation and when the dust had settled the only two
groups left in the room were the North West and the Trots ,genius, pure genius,
then these sworn enemies cobble together to support a candidate who has now
withdrawn in favour of Simpson, (the irony is almost too much), but sadly lost
on the North West who are again up shit creek without a paddle, claiming that
the enormity of the choice facing them has left them unable to back any candidate.
The hilarity of this situation is not lost on me, nor should it be lost on you.
